Summer has arrived and you have decided to get in the water a complete a shore dive, so you open up your old dive tub, dust off the cobwebs from your regulator, inflate your BCD with the realization that it can be done orally, and find your certification card dated 1973.
It’s probably a good idea at looking at doing a Scuba Refresher Course, let’s face it; it’s not like riding a bike, making a mistake underwater can ruin your day.
The outline of the program is to cover theory on diving, including important aspects that may have been forgotten, following this is a dive under the pier at Portsea or in the pool at Queenscliff to assess competency in some of the fundamental skills of diving and to ensure divers comfort in the water. Progressing on from this is a boat dive (generally to Popes Eye or another suitable open water dive site) to enable the diver to get back into the open water and recall the thrills of diving.
Cost of the course is $240, which includes all equipment rental, instructor fees, air fills shore/pool and boat dive, use of facilities.
Recommended program time: 5-6hrs.
SKILLS - In the Scuba Refresher program you will have the opportunity to practice and review the scuba skills you learned in your open water diver class and learn techniques that may have changed. You will have the opportunity to refresh your memory and motor coordination, as well as practice your self-aid skills - all under the guidance of a dive leader.
